Our new closet!

Before, my closet only had this metal shelf with a little space to hang things. It wasn't very practical at all and I couldn't get many clothes in there. Well, Noel made my closet a 100 times better by putting a rod and a shelf the full length. Imagine both pictures side by side and now that's how much room I have to hang things. The top picture is my clothes and the bottom picture is Ruby's clothes. Thanks so much to my friend Ashley who gave us two boxes stuffed with the cutest little girl clothes ever! I just love putting away Ruby's "new" clothes.

24 Weeks!

How your baby's growing:Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. (I think she is bigger than that actually, according to ultrasound and measurements.) Since she's almost a foot long (ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Finally a bed!

This is the bed Noel and I made last weekend. Noel went to Lowes and bought the lumber, we put our heads together, and made it from scratch! It's a little higher up than we expected it to be, but it's OK. We actually feel like royalty in it! It's a lot more comfortable than when the bed was on the floor. Obviously, mattresses and boxsprings are not meant to sit on the floor. Notice the step on my side. Noel made that for me because it was too hard for me to climb up and get down due to being preggers.

On a side note, I slipped in dog drool (yes, I'm serious) and fell in the kitchen tonight. I'm OK but I banged my knee pretty good.

23 Weeks!

How your baby's growing:Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking (yes) or the roar of the vacuum cleaner (not so much but am doing better) probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

Slow Hand

On May 31, 2008, Noel and I were lucky enough to be able to see Eric Clapton live. We went to the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls OH. What a nice venue. EC brought Robert Randolph with him and had Doyle Bramhall II in his band. (I understand this might not be important to everyone). The venue allows you to tailgate in the parking lot and go in when you feel like it. We'll definitely take advangtage of that the next time we go--which is this coming weekend! Anywho, the concert was awesome! Imagine the first guitar riff that starts Layla and then keep imagining the song all the way through to the end of the extended version. How lucky we are!

Here's a cute unrelated pic for your viewing pleasure.

Still no internet

Hi all!

I still have no internet and the battery on my camera is dead so I couldn't even bring it to work to put on a picture. The fellow who was supposed to come fix my internet on Fri. called on Thur. and said he was going out of business. I guess I should have had him come earlier in the week ;)

All is well at my house. Noel and I built a platform bed yesterday and I'll post a picture--maybe even tomorrow. Also, we met my parents in Beckley for Father's day yesterday. It was a surprise to my Dad who thought that I forgot all about Father's day. haha Mom and I pulled a pretty good one.

22 Weeks!

How your baby's growing:At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and she's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath her gums. Her eyes have formed, but her irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her body and the deep wrinkles on her skin, which she'll sport until she adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside her belly, her pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Internet's down at home :(

No pictures today as I am having difficulties with my internet at home. I have satellite internet and it seems that my modem is no longer receiving a signal. So frustrating.

Anyway, I am doing fine. I think I am as big as a house and when I can I'll post a recent picture of myself for everyone to see that I AM as big as a house. I can feel the baby moving a lot now. My stomach is itchy from where the skin is stretching. I am very lucky because I have still not had any problems. I go the 25th for another doctor appointment and that time will do the test for gestational diabetes. I'm worried about that one.

Noel and I went down the river this past weekend in our new kayaks. Poor Noel overturned his and nearly drowned! Luckily he was fine and we saved the boat and paddle. It was hot too. I put on sunblock but got burnt in a few small places. Noel did not put on sunblock and burnt up his legs pretty bad. hehe Terri and Gary (Noel's mom and her boyfriend) had a picnic waiting for us at Bud and Della Lea's (Noel's great aunt and uncle) camp on the river. It was nice to get out and have food waiting on us! We had such a nice time that day and can't wait to do it again.

Will put picture up soon. I think you all will get a kick out of it.

21 Weeks!

How your baby's growing:Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound (She weighed that 8 days ago according to the ultrasound!) and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Baby Sassy

Miss Jan bought us some bonnets for the baby. Baby Sassy got to model one for us. Cute isn't she? She was a pretty good sport about the whole thing! I am getting some of the cutest clothes. We're very thankful for all the nice things.
